Elder Recommendation to Purchase Building

The elders met Monday evening (10/29/18) and voted unanimously to recommend to the congregation that we purchase 908 Westover Terrace.  When we began this journey we said that in order to purchase the property God would need to open many doors:

– providing a new tenant to take over our lease on our current property
– providing a bank who was willing to loan us money
– raising seed money by mid-December, and additional pledges toward a 3-year campaign (2019-2021)
– limiting our total upfit cost for HVAC, roofing, stage renovations, painting and various other things to approximately $300k
– most importantly, making sure that the overwhelming majority of our folks believe with us that this move will further our vision of bringing spiritual, social and cultural renewal to our city and beyond.

Amazingly, God has opened all of these doors and more.

He has provided another church plant to take over our lease on February 1st, and thanks to you we have raised $482,598 in seed money and have received $453,000 in pledges toward the 3-year campaign, with many of you indicating that you plan to make pledges in early 2019.  So, it is with great joy and thanksgiving that we bring this motion to you for a vote this Sunday immediately following our worship service.

If you vote “yes” to our motion, we will close on the Westover property on December 20th.  We are anticipating that upfit will take approximately one month.  Therefore, we will plan to hold our first worship service in the new building on February 3rd, 2019.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me or one of the elders.

Sincerely,
Todd Jones, on behalf of the session:

Info Meeting Recap

Greetings,

I wanted to take a moment to give a brief synopsis of our latest informational meeting.  Over the past several weeks the elders and staff have reached out to members and regular attenders to seek input and answer questions. Overall the feedback from the congregation has been very positive.
The staff have met with electricians, HVAC companies, roofing companies and a variety of other professionals about up-fitting the building.  Our hope was the total cost would come under $300,000 and based on the quotes that we have received we should come in right at $300,000.
As for the rooted for renewal capital campaign, Scott informed us that from the 9 or 10 pledge cards that he has received as of Sept 28th, we have $282,500 toward the $500,000 Dec. 15th goal and we have $265,000 toward the $900,000 goal.  These are very encouraging numbers and as Scott reminded us we are off to a great start.
This Sunday October 7th, Michael and Daniel will be leading a tour through the 908 Westover Terrace facility at 1:30 p.m.  We are hoping all of you will take this opportunity to walk through the facility.  The tour begins at the outside playground.
We would ask that everyone continue to pray for God to either continue to open doors or close doors over the next month.  If you have not already returned your pledge cards, please either use the online form at rootedforrenewal.com or place your card in the box on the information table.  You can also give your card to Scott North directly.
The elders will meet on October 29th to assess where we are in regards to pledges and make a recommendation to either purchase the facility or to walk away.  We will email the recommendation to you by October 31st so you will have time to prayerfully consider it.  We will have a congregational meeting immediately following the worship service on November 4th to vote yes or no on the elder’s recommendation.
We are excited about the possibility this new location affords us to continue our vision of spiritual, social and cultural renewal.  If you have any questions, please let me or any of other elders know.
Sincerely,
Todd Jones

Information Meeting – September 9

We held an informational meeting on Sunday, September 9 to talk about the vision and future of Hope Chapel, as well as present the story of how we came to believe God is leading us to consider purchasing a facility.

Audio of the entire meeting is posted below to stream or download, as well as the visuals we used during the presentation.

MAKE A
PLEDGE

It is our hope that we will pay off the note on our new facility and be debt free in three years. We presently have $457,000 pledged toward our $990,000 goal. Would you consider making a pledge today?
